Knowing what to expect when you sign up for a business’s social media feeds or use the wrong search engine is often a mistake. Don’t rely on a quick glance of a company’s site to gather the information you need.

Instead, put yourself in the shoes of the people you’re trying to connect with and ask a few questions. Are they available 24/7? Do they have the right address? Do they have the right phone number? The more you know, the more likely you’ll get the information you need.

By the time you’re ready to apply for a job, your contact will already be online. Just because they’ve set up a business account with your name doesn’t mean they’re expecting you to log in every time you want to contact them. The reason why is because they expect you to constantly use their site to check for their updates. This can lead to a lot of email traffic.

Its often better to start off by doing a little research online. It’s not about the business, its about the person. If you have a few Google searches on your resume, LinkedIn, or Facebook, you can get a pretty good idea of what kind of job they are looking for you. If you’re lucky you’ll get a quick response from them. If you’re not, you’re probably wasting your time.

Businesses want to make the most out of their employees. It is a pretty basic concept, but it can help you figure out if you think you can fit in into that company. How many employees do you think you could fit into your company? Do you think your work experience is transferable to someone else? If you can answer that question, youll be more likely to get a job at a company.

In the book, the authors suggest that the most important consideration is your motivation. Do you have a lot of passion for your job? If so, then you should probably focus on being the best employee you can be so you can make the best decisions for your employer. If youre not passionate about your work, but rather just like it, then you should probably focus on getting experience elsewhere to make it more transferable.

In business, the key is to find the right fit. If you have a good job that pays well and you love your job, then that is the right fit. If you have a job with less money and less prestige, then that is the right fit. But if you don’t fit the job well, then you should probably find another career.

Some of you reading this might be thinking, “I didn’t get a good job because I’m not passionate about my work.” No. You were hired because your skills and experience were better suited for the job that you were hired for. A good fit is different from passion. If you like your job, then you should try to get more experience elsewhere because it is likely that any new opportunity you can get will be better than the current one.

This is why I like to talk about the power of passion in business. Passion drives you to stay with a company, but passion is different from experience. Passion is always about the future. Passion drives you to keep learning about a new field, and it motivates you to keep learning about the job you are hired for. Experience is about the past. Experience is about the present, and you can only really get it by doing something that you love about your job.

If we are not passionate about a job, we should stay away from that job. Passion is about making the future. It is a feeling that will always be with you, never be erased. If you want to have the best chance of beating your competitor, you must learn the lessons of the company you are working for.
